Is everything going well up on the mountain? I know that it was a lean snow year, but there seem to be less and less posts every year. I loved watching and donating to the progress that has been made.

What is the best way to hike our summit? The trailhead is accessible from North Road off Route 6/15. Plan 3-4 hours for this 4.8 mile climb. The views of Moosehead Lake and our lodge are incomparable.

LOCAL BUSINESSES: We need your help again this year with our Lucky Duck fundraiser. PLEASE, PLEASE let us know if you can be a race sponsor by selling $100 in ducks.

Our immediate goals include paying off the $21,000 snow making loan, finishing the surface lift project and cross country trail improvements. This 3rd Annual Event will support off season expenses and keep our mountain alive.

It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to our Friend, Earl Thompson of Greenville. Thank you so much, Debby! I must be the luckiest woman!
I know I had a village behind me, forty years ago, when I joined the pro tour as a high school grad from Bangor, as a regular skier at The Friends of Squaw Mountain --- and I am so grateful to feel the village behind me, as I plan to take my dad and my boy on this once in a lifetime adventure, to honor a couple of my former fellow competitors at the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame and Museum. And my dad. Thanks, Dad! I couldn't have done it without you!

The end of a truly awful ski season is upon us

Forgive the weather curmudgeon if you will for a moment, but there was a moment on Thursday morning while riding the gondola at Killington Mountain Resort when a general sense of bitter angst took over.

Quilla S Philbrick I am still depressed when I longingly stare at your web-cam. Already have my sights set on next winter at amazingly beautiful big squaw .... Will be a summer of true restlessness and lack of closure. This article states it well. I love you, big squaw, in spite of the winter of 2016 that never truly was!!!

Please SHARE this great snowmobile racing event that is planned for March 19th @ Big Rock Mountain, starting at 5:30 pm, with a special fireworks display.

This snowmobile hillclimb & side by side racing event will have a very special meaning to many folks, as a tribute to our late friend & competitor; Dustin McCrum and all competitors will be "Racing in Memory of Dustin".

Dustin and the McCrum family have been lifelong and very close friends and fierce competitors of all of ours, as Dirk & Dustin both clawed the mountain several years for my own personal snowmobile race team.

Please help us honor a great racing family, by showing your support of this great event and bringing along your family & friends!!

Lastly, special thanks goes out to all the fellow organizers, volunteers and business sponsors that made this special event a reality. See ya at the Mountain.

** some of your racers will be participating in this event, some of your racers are proud sponsors of this event, some of your racers are volunteers of this event, some racers are organizers of this event, come out and be part of this event!!

This a hard post for us snow lovers to share.
Mother Nature continues to show us who is calling the shots. This most recent rain and warm up was more than our mountain could stand. Unfortunately, the extended forecast calls for more of the same. We have had to make the tough decision to close for the season. We are thankful for the continued support from our Friends and ski community. We are already looking forward to more snow and more ski days next season.
With Deep Appreciation, The Friends of Squaw Mountain.

Today I finally got back to "Ski Squaw" after 15 years away. Thank you to all of the friendly folks working behind the scenes and on the front lines to make it one of the best days of skiing I've had in a long time. I got there early, and was the first to carve a line in the freshly groomed corduroy on several of the trails. It was sad to see the old main lodge empty and pale, but it brought back many memories from my younger days. I hope more folks will come back to help rebuild this gem and make memories for their youngsters!

The Friends of Squaw Mountain Thank you for spending your day with us Lynn! It is support from people like you that will help keep us going up.
