We have a dream, that one day all of the pieces will fall into place. We have a dream, that we will not forget the captivating views from our summit. We have a dream, that those trails on the upper mountain will be returned to their former majesty. We have a dream, that those of you who see the hope and the future of Moosehead Lake, remember that the economic vitality and sustainability of Squaw Mountain is a critical component. Here's to Dr King and to following your dreams and keeping them alive.

You can join us for a day of skiing or make a tax deductible contribution here. https://www.gofundme.com/p2w65g?pc=fb_u_g

Moon-lit Craft Beer Tasting & Snowshoe Trek

Meet the Brewers!

Mason's Brewing Company of Brewer, Maine will be at the lodge to serve up 4 of their local libations. Paired with light bar fare from Northwoods Gourmet Girl, live music from the Rich Daigle Trio and some outdoor adventure, this night promises to be a highlight of our winter and yours!

Here is what the brewers are serving up special.

Draft:

Hipster Apocalypse IPA- 5.7% ABV IPA featuring the Idaho 7 hop. Killer tropical notes on the nose and a classic west coast ipa body make for a very balanced india pale ale.

Roggen bier-Our Roggen Bier is a modern interpretation of the classic German style, blending pilsen malts, dark wheat and flaked rye to produce a beer with the richness of a doppelbock and the grainy complexity of pumpernickel bread. Hefeweizen yeast accents the aroma with strong estery notes.
4.5%ABV

Cans:

West Coast Pilz-Our West Coast Pilz is brewed in the Classic German Pilsner style. This beer is pale yellow in appearance and well-hopped, using traditional noble hops and an American West Coast varietal for a modern twist. Combining these hops gives this beer a unique aroma that is equal parts crisp, spicy, herbal, and citrusy.
4.3% ABV

Saison-Our Farmhouse Saison is a very complex style that is lightly fruity in aroma and flavor. Present are estery yeast tones, mild to moderate tartness, and noticeable spice with a medium bitterness. Saisons are known as a “farmhouse” ale with origins in the fields of France and Belgium, and are traditionally brewed in the winter to be consumed throughout the summer months.
4.8%ABV

Apres music with The Rich Daigle Trio starts at 4pm.
Craft beer tasting and shoeing as the moon rises at 5pm.

Thousands of you have come to see us at the lodge already this season. Many more of you are waiting for a big announcement. You all have the same question.

WHEN ARE WE GOING TO THE TOP???

It is true, there is more than one way to get to the top of a mountain. First, you have to be willing to take the first step.

Before we get a new lift, we need another groomer to work the upper mountain trails and cross country trails. Our Prinoth BR350 will continue to serve the lower mountain trails. A second machine will get put to work right away. This is a realistic goal for us and we have committed to this project.

If the season continues to bless us with snow and you all support this endeavor, it is entirely possible that we will be grooming and skiing the Penobscot Trail on the Upper Mountain by Mid February.

Thank you Frank Sabo of Sabo CP in Hingham, Mass for starting our down payment fund with your $2,000 tax deductible donation.

Thank you Jim & Sophie Sevey of Creative Dental Solutions in Bangor, Maine for your $1,600 annual donation and continued support.

Anyone can donate here with GoFundMe or by sending money via PayPal to friendsofsquaw@gmail.com

We have opened a special account at Bangor Savings Bank for anyone who wishes to make a deposit directly. Checks can be delivered to the lodge or the PO Box 307 in Greenville Jct, ME 04442

***Donations of $500 or more will include private transportation and first tracks on the Upper Penobscot for 2 people on the date of your choice***

Here's to big dreams and those who believe enough to make them come true!!!

Amy Lane

Amy  is the president of The Friends of Squaw Mountain, as well as one of the primary individuals responsible for getting the mountain back up and running.  “Squaw Mountain is where I learned how to ski and enjoyed skiing in her backyard.”  The reason Amy is so passionate about the mountain is “to give my kids the same local skiing experience.”

Mission Statement

The Friends of Squaw Mountain became a non profit corporation with the goal of sharing the Squaw Mountain experience that has been celebrated and loved by many. Squaw is a community mountain for youth and families to ski & ride affordably, as well as learn to ski, ride & race. We embrace the history that once was, while working together to make the future of our mountain a resort for the family. We look forward to skiing the view with you.

Financial Contributions:

Help keep this one-of-a-kind gem operational with your donation! We have been awarded 501(c)(3) non-profit status.  All donations from February 2012 to present are 100% tax deductible. We’ve made it even easier to help keep the mountain alive.  Using PayPal you can now contribute monthly to help support the mountain. Donations can also be sent directly to FoSM, PO Box 307, Greenville Junction, ME  04442

Become a Friend:

Friendship is as easy at $10/month or $120 annually.  Donors will be acknowledged on our Friendship Wall right here in the Lower Lodge.  All Friends will also be invited to ski with us on January 11, 2015 for our Friendship Day.  We will be serving up a donor dinner to celebrate all of our accomplishments as we boot up for season.
